Seek First to Understand: The Pathway to Social Justice, Racial Equality, and the End of Racism

Season #1 Episode #13

In this episode, Dr. Charlie Cartwright gets real on the leadership and accountability needed to pave the way forward in the pursuit of social justice, racial equality, and the end of racism as we know it today.  This vulnerable, courageous, and impactful conversation will provide so much depth into the most critical issue facing our country today.

Dr. Cartwright grew up in the heart of the civil rights movement.  Born shortly after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and in the year the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law, Dr. Cartwright's childhood was full of racism and unfathomable challenges in his home life, which was filled with domestic violence and alcoholism.

Dr. Cartwright learned to channel his anger into positive action on the football field and his mentors helped reframe his mindset that has created incredible success.

During this conversation, Dr. Charlie talks about:
- Being right vs being effective
- The word missing in "Black Lives Matter"
- The importance of the police
- How to make former ways of thinking obsolete
- The importance of choosing the right words
- Reframing the "victimhood mindset"
- The importance of mentoring

- and so much more...
